SHOCK SPLIT: Iga Swiatek DUMPS COACH AFTER MIAMI DISASTER
Six-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek has parted ways with her coach Wim Fissette following a disappointing early exit at the Miami Open, marking a dramatic turn in her 2026 season.
The Polish star confirmed the split on Monday via her official Instagram account after suffering a shock second-round defeat to compatriot Magda Linette in Miami — a loss that extended her inconsistent run this year.
A Season Losing Momentum
Swiatek’s Miami exit adds to a string of underwhelming performances in 2026, including quarter-final eliminations at the Australian Open, Qatar Open, and Indian Wells Open.
In her statement, Swiatek did not hide her frustration:
“Miami was challenging for me. I feel disappointment, bitterness and responsibility for my performance on the court.”
She added that despite the setback, the period had been a learning experience both professionally and personally.
End of a Promising Partnership
Swiatek and Fissette began working together in October 2024, a partnership that quickly bore fruit. Under his guidance, she achieved one of the biggest milestones of her career — winning her first Wimbledon Championships title.
However, recent results appear to have prompted a strategic reset.
“After many months of working together with my coach Wim Fissette, I’ve decided to take a different path,” she said.
She thanked the Belgian coach for his “support, experience, and everything we achieved together,” signaling an amicable split.
Rankings Shift Adds Pressure
The shake-up comes as Swiatek slips to world No. 3, overtaken by Elena Rybakina, the reigning Australian Open champion.
With the clay season approaching — traditionally her strongest surface — the timing of the coaching change raises questions about her strategy heading into a critical phase of the tennis calendar.
What Next for Swiatek?
Swiatek confirmed that the rest of her team remains intact but did not reveal who will replace Fissette.
“I’m taking a moment to take care of myself, process this experience, and prepare for a new chapter,” she said.
